Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to consign to auction, rather than selling privately or at a yard sale?

Items of value or interest will do better at auction. The advantage of an auction is competition and exposure. We have a varied and knowledgeable customer base of dealers and collectors who compete at auction. We research, photograph, and catalog each item. We advertise extensively in antique trade publications with huge circulations, on the Internet, and through direct mail. In addition to live audiences, absentee, and phone bidders your items are available for bidding worldwide through online platforms.

How do I know if my item or collection is worth auctioning?

Many people have little idea of what their belongings may be worth. We can help with practical knowledge and advice. We have the experience to advise which items would do well at auction and those that won't. Sometimes the one thing you thought was worth nothing is the best to present at auction. On the other hand, we often tell people, to their appreciation, what they can safely throw away with no remorse.

What happens if my item/s don't sell?

If your items are "passed" due to lack of interest, they may be held for the next auction or they may be returned to you.

How do I get paid and when?

We pay consignors promptly, within approximately 3 to 3 1/2 weeks after the auction date. You will be sent a check with a detailed itemized listing of your item/s with photographs and descriptions.

When should I submit my items for the next auction/s?

It is advisable to get your items in as soon as reasonably possible. This is allows us properly research, catalog, photograph, and advertise.

Do you specialize in only certain items?

Working twenty six years in the antique field and twenty two years in the auction business, we have knowledge in all areas. We have successfully handled art work, sterling silver, jewelry, antique furniture, clocks, lighting, military items, military & historical, antique tools, toys, 20th Century Design, and more whether it be a single item or a collection.

Can I attend the auction?

All auctions are public and you are more than welcome to come. There is plenty of parking, concessions available, and the gallery is handicap accessible. You may not, however, bid on your own items.
